After 26 years of entertaining crowds with relentless jabs at and parodies of the year’s pop culture highlights, the popular stage show “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure” will wrap up their epic run at Halloween Horror Nights 27.
“Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure” has been a staple of the annual Halloween Horror Nights event for Universal Orlando since 1992 debuting at “Halloween Horror Nights II”.
The show featured the time traveling, air guitar playing duo Bill and Ted from the “Bill and Ted” movie franchise. Through the use of (often in the form of having been stolen) their time traveling phone booth, each year Bill and Ted would come at odds with a super villain surrounded by evil doers from that year’s Movies, TV, and Music trends.
An equally popular and parodied set of heroes would inevitably appear from the pop culture realm to assist Bill and Ted to over throw the villains and achieve the ultimate victory – a high energy song and dance finale.
I’ve been enjoying “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure” since 1999’s “Halloween Horror Nights IX” and it was my first Halloween Horror Nights attraction ever. It’s had its ups and downs, some years stronger than others, and the pop culture is flying farther and farther over my head – but, it’s been a part of my “Halloween Horror Nights” experience since my very first visit and it’s going to be a little difficult to imagine the event without Bill and Ted.
But that being said, I am a believer in the idea that “change is good” and I’ve no doubt the creative team behind Halloween Horror Nights did not make this decision lightly and have something in the works that’s going to blow me away!
So rather than lament on this being Bill and Ted’s last year at “Halloween Horror Nights”, I’m going join in celebrating what Bill and Ted brought to the event. I’m excited to go to that one last party, have fun with the crowds, laugh at the parodies, and with enjoy Bill and Ted’s adventure one more time!
Party on, dudes!
